Baltic International Bank continues its purposeful development
It is a pleasure to present to you our Interim Financial Statements for the six-month period of 2009. During the covered period, the external environment continued to be affected by the aftermath of the global financial crisis. Strategy and tactics that we have opted to pursue has greatly boosted the bank’s chances to retain its positions and to reduce its exposure to certain types of risks encountered by most market participants.

Bank’s Representatives Join Latvia’s President on Official Visit to Azerbaijan
August 10 through 13, Latvia’s President officially visited Azerbaijan. A delegation of businessmen from Latvia travelled together with the President’s team members to meet with Azerbaijan’s entrepreneurs and negotiate the cooperation opportunities. The Bank’s Board member Dinars Kolpakovs and Customer Service Director Irena Skobeleva were among the delegation.

Baltic International Bank continues its purposeful development and increases the share capital
To continue the bank’s purposeful development and to stand in line with its strategic goals and objectives, our shareholders have approved the resolution to increase the share capital to 15.5 million lats through a new-share issue.

Bank’s Representatives Join Latvia’s President on His Visit to Tajikistan
Latvia’s President Valdis Zatlers officially visited Tajikistan (July 10 through 14). A delegation of twenty five businessmen travelled together with the President’s team members to meet with Tajik entrepreneurs and negotiate the cooperation opportunities. Our Board member Dinars Kolpakovs and a representative of Private banking department Nikolai Kuzmin were among the delegation.

The Tällberg Forum 2009 took place in Sweden from 24 to 30 June. Having been invited as an honoured guest, the major shareholder of the Baltic International Bank Valery Belokon participated in the Forum.

The ambassador of Latvia in Russia Edgars Skuja expressed gratitude to Baltic International Bank for its assistance in organising the traditional celebration of summer solstice - Ligo (Līgo).

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2009
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (www.forumspb.com) was held from June 4 to 6. Organisers estimated that more than 3,500 people attended the Forum. The Forum brought together top government officials, leading economists, bankers, experts and top executives of the world’s largest companies from the world’s 83 countries. Head of our Moscow-based representative office also participated in the Forum.

Baltic International Bank (BIB) has gone live on global core banking software TEMENOS T24 as part of a development strategy to deploy a fully integrated systems infrastructure and maintain and enhance its functionality and improve the overall quality of transaction processing.

At the end of May Latvian Civil Engineers Society awarded its members within the framework of the contest „Best Construction 2008”. The reconstruction project of Baltic International Bank’s head office (6, Grēcinieku iela, Riga) was awarded the encouraging prize in the nomination „Reconstruction”.

MasterCard World Signia is already in Latvia
Following the principles of individual customer service, in May of 2009 Baltic International Bank became the first Latvian bank entitled to issue the prestige credit card of the international payment system MasterCard Worldwide - World Signia.

Baltic International Bank joined the United Nations Environment Programme – The Billion Tree Campaign, and participated in the process of greening the city of Riga. Last Saturday employees of the Bank planted trees and roses in one of the oldest parks in Riga – Viesturdarzs.

From 5 May 2009 the working hours of the Baltic International Bank’s Payment Cards Division are extended.
Please, be informed that from 5 May 2009 the working hours of the Baltic International Bank’s Payment Cards Division are considerably extended in order to enhance efficiency and quality of services provided. Henceforth you may be consulted and solve possible questions concerning payment cards service in the Bank’s Payment Cards Division every day, including non-working days, from 8:00 to 22:00 (Latvian time).
