Valeri Belokon participated in the opening of the football stadium’s new stand in Blackpool
Last week the major shareholder of the Bank and one of the owners of the Blackpool Football Club (the UK) Valeri Belokon participated in the opening ceremony of the new South Stand at the Blackpool FC’s stadium.
The South Stand has been rebuilt and now meets all today’s safety and comfort requirements. After the reconstruction the Bloomfield Road stadium’s capacity has increased exceeding 13 thousand seats. The investments reached 8,5 million GBP.
The new stand’s opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Latvia to the UK Eduards Stiprais.
Blackpool Football Club, founded in 1887, won the Championship of England in 1953. Some of the club’s players played also for the national team of England. The club nowadays plays in the Championship, the second tier of professional football in England, and in the current season continues to play for promotion to the Premier League.
