Bond Market Highlights: EU Prepares to Provide Financial Assistance to Ireland

Active negotiations are underway with the European Union on financial aid for Ireland. Irish government bond yield jumped to new high, thus signalling doubts in the financial markets about whether Ireland would be able to repay its huge debt.

The current yields-to-maturity (YTMs) are as follows: Ireland'12 – 3.30% (EUR), Ireland'14 – 6.85% (EUR), Ireland'16 – 7.10% (EUR), Ireland'19 – 7.55% (EUR) and Ireland'25 – 8.15% (EUR).
