Baltic International Bank Supporting the Fairness Award 2014
The Fairness Award is an international prize. This year, it will be awarded for the fifth time. Its purpose is to honour leaders working in the public interest and trying to pull down the economic and social barriers for deprived society groups round the world. The award ceremony will take place in Washington, USA, on 24 November.
‘Our determination and work input plays an important role on the way towards well-being. However, the environment, state and family too all have an effect on a person's opportunities to achieve high goals in the future. Poverty is a global problem that is very difficult to reduce. However, it is our duty to do this with untiring commitment, trying to bridge the gap between social groups, helping people who have to cope with the harshness of the world more than others implement their dreams concerning business, education and other things,’ says Mrs Ilona Guļčaka, Chairperson of the Board of Baltic International Bank.
The prize is awarded by the Global Fairness Initiative, an international non-governmental organization, since 2010. The prize is aimed at promoting equal opportunities for workers in every social class to ensure fair wages and to promote a balanced public policy. The Fairness Award has been previously awarded to Mrs Hillary Clinton, Mrs Joyce Banda, former President of the Republic of Malawi, Mr Jose Maria Figueres Olsen, former President of Costa Rica, and to others – statesmen, social entrepreneurs, leaders and activists – who have helped vulnerable society groups in their respective countries through their work.
